Title: LCD Display on Rad Expand, no clamp spacers
Post by: rfv on January 31, 2025, 10:13:34 AM
I have an old (!) LCD Display from a Mini that I would like to install on a Rad Expand. However, I don't have the spacers that are required to fit the handlebar clamps of the display to the Rad Expand. The Rad Expand handlebar is a lot thinner than the Mini. Any ideas? Thanks!

Here's the LCD Display I'm referring to: https://www.radpowerbikes.com/products/lcd-display-upgrade?_pos=1&_sid=578b8fbc0&_ss=r

I got the LCD Upgrade for my RadExpand 5, which did come with (I think) rubber spacers.

You could just cut up an old inner tube or some neoprene strips from a rubber boot or some such for DIY spacers. If from an inner tube it may require 1 1/2 wraps, maybe 2 to get good compression.

Or use many wraps of cloth-type hockey tape (aka "friction tape"). It's my new favourite secret weapon.

Also, maybe spiral cable wrap, like this stuff, in different colours and diameters:

I'm not absolutely sure if it would be thick enough.
It's also handy (no surprise) for tidying up wiring and brake cable bundles.

I've used this for a lot of stuff I've mounted to my handlebars.

Yes, DIY looks like the ticket. The spacer would need to be 22mm->30mmm, more or less. I spoke (chat) with Rad support and bought the LCD mounting bracket hoping it would include the spacers, but it didn't.

That looks like a neat solution, thank you!
