Title: Rad Runner 2 - Mid Console Speaker
Post by: Kudsooy on September 08, 2024, 06:06:58 AM
Hi,

Wanted to share a little project!

I know some might say it's not ok to cycle with loud music bothering others and not hearing your surroundings. For the record; I don't do that ☺️.

But as I like to try and built stuff and I saw the potential to start this little DIY project, I decided to go for it.

Me, a practical idiot and a lot of unnecessary tape, but I just want to have some extra security haha.

There are 4, 3.5 inch 20 watt full range speakers, connected to a small bluetooth receiver (Power Dynamics BT10 - 15v 2A, in the past but now with an AliExpress 50w amplifier with knob) in series. It's mounted inside under the phone holder. I drilled a small hole in there to have the knob go through and control the volume.

As it has a barrel connector, I bought a barrel-to-USB C cable which connects to a 20.000mAh powerbank able to output 45w. (The capacity is overkill, I know. It can keep going for 20 hours).

I drilled two holes, sacrificed the cupholder and two more holes on the side.everything is connected on the inside and the rest of the mid console acts a resonance chamber.

Greetings from Amsterdam!

Setting aside the debate regarding noise pollution on the pathways.
I liked seeing people personalizing their equipment. Add a chainsaw on the basket and with your decals, it reminded me of an old movie Death Race 2000.

Some of my thoughts,
- lost of storage space
- added weight
- there are BT speakers on the market with small footprint but has powerful sounds.

To each his own, enjoy your ride.
