My wife has the Rad City 5, probably 2 years old, with a Bolton controller. All has worked well until recently.
Occasionally, she will have no pas or throttle power for a second or two, then all is well. I can?t get Rad help due to the controller.
So could it be that the battery is beginning to fail, or the Bolton controller is the issue?
Any ideas would be appreciated!

I have had a similar problem with my 2 year old Radrover 5, (all stock) Mine would give me the exact same response as applying the brakes, To resume all I had to do is touch the brakes and all was good, After a year Rad customer support and myself figured out it was faulty sensors in the brake cables assembly,  To troubleshoot the problem my technique was to disconnect the brake sensor safety  both front and rear for a while, Sure enough, found out  the brake sensors to be the culprit.
Hope this helps, Paul

so what did you do, replace the sensors?

My wife wants to put pin stripes on her bike, but the entire areas are covered with the logo. Anyone know what brand makes the comparable white?

I don't have an answer, but I'd be interested in trying to chase down root cause. Let me know if you'd be willing to send a bad battery to me to examine.

Sorry for the late reply. Forgot I posted this. Rad denied my claim cause I had the Bolton controller. Anyhow, I can charge the battery OFF the bike w/o is occurring!! So, maybe the controller has something to do with it?

General Chat / 2nd battery usage question
January 30, 2022, 02:46:58 PM
I purchased a 2nd battery just to have one. Storing inside at 75% charged, per long term storage recommendations.

Question is, should I use it occasionally then store back at 75%?

Thanks for any advice.

General Chat / Battery meter issue when applying brakes
January 05, 2022, 06:34:29 PM
This is kinda odd, but when my wife applies the brakes on her City5, the color bar goes all the way down to black and back to orange after release. Happens even when fully charged.

Anybody experience this? Never happens on my Rover5...

Thanks for any input..

When you receive the kit from Bolton you will find an install sheet as well as recommended settings.

I can tell you that the Bolton KT8 display, (color), is very readable in SoCal sunlight.

You all should have spent more money on  a Bolton ebike to keep you from running around like this

Anyone else have this issue?
After a full charge, it won't power up unless I put the charger back on. It then powers up and each time after that until the next charge and I have to repeat the process. Rad stuck it to me as I added an aftermarket controller. Battery is 8 months old. BTW, my wife's battery on my bike does NOT have the same issue, so it's got to be my battery?
Any ideas? I'd buy another battery but like most Rad items, they are outta stock!

General Chat / Rover5 will not power on after charging.

Anyone else have this issue?
After a full charge the only way I can power up is by plugging in the charger again, like a jump start. It powers up and usually don’t have to do it again till the next charge. I don’t have this issue when I swap out my battery with my wife’s battery.
Less than 8 months old. Rad won’t warranty it due to the Bolton controller I added. I’d buy another one but as usual, they’re outta stock!
