Thanks for the read. In most cases I look for the cushy'est largest springy seat I can get my hands on.

A really cool tool from specialized from that article: FIND YOUR SADDLE SIZE. Obv., it's a sales tool, but an interesting diy method for measuring sits bones.

Hello to all Rad-icle peoples! Jon checking in from Boulder, CO. I just got my Rad Runner 1 (my first ebike) this week.  I found a small window of halfway decent weather and was able to get out and kill a full batteries worth. We have a pretty decent mixed-use trail system around town and with this bike I can get anywhere in our relatively small town (and surrounding towns) very quickly.

I've think in the 6 days (weather delayed) between when I placed the order and when it was received, I think I've read everything on this site so a big thanks to everyone who has contributed here.

Anyway, quick first impression of my Rad Runner 1 are not far from what others have already pointed out:
  • Fast delivery, packed well
  • Looks great! (certainly captures attention - I look forward to the many conversations this will spawn with strangers)
  • Good starting power
  • Performed well in slushy snow/mud mix
  • Fun as hell to ride (is perma-smile a word?)
  • Many options/configurations for luggage/tie-ons (my other bike is a Kawasaki KLR 650, also an erector-set-like platform).

Cons (already well documented):
  • Single gear. Initially, noticeable suck when really getting after it (it was new. I was excited), but I was already starting to adjust my style, making this less of an issue ultimately. However, if asked for my opinion for those seeking to buy a new ebike, I would suggest getting one with some gearing. That being said, this one gear still fits 90% of my personal use case.
  • While the seat is not the medieval torture device it appears to be, it is not one you'd relish spending hours on. Discussions here lead me to seek an alternative: the super-duper-springy-padded seat offering they had on the RPB site, but as many of you have already discovered, the OEM seat/post does not have an attachment for any standard seat. Awaiting Amazon delivery of https://amzn.to/3K5edIr - It was cheap, so I'm still looking for legit suspension seatpost options.

Obviously, still new and will try to keep up where relevant. Thanks again to all who contribute. I hope you and yours are all healthy and in good spirits. Spring is around the corner! Looking forward to the discussion.
