For EU models the drive motors themselves are the same, but the electronics will only drive it to 250 watts. So even if you configure the maximum speed to 40 km/h the bike may not have enough power to push it up to that speed.

If you replace the stock electronics with other aftermarket solutions you may be able to get more power out of it.

Check with your bike rack's manufacturer to whether it can support the weight of a RadCity (~65lbs)

I see what you mean though. I tried keeping the throttle at around 250 watts. Best I could do was 15-16mph on fairly flat ground.

You're not gonna get 40mph out of the stock motor. What the 35 amp controller does is allow you to configure things like the wattage output, top speed, etc.

I believe the screens are generally compatible with each other. You'd have to go into the settings and configure the tire size appropriately.

I guess one more quick test would be to test power with just the screen and controller, unplugged throttle, unplugged PAS, no motor, etc. See if that changes.

Beyond that yeah, that's all I've got.

Did you also unplug the pedal assist sensor? It's the short one that leads to the small black box at the crank.

The display and controller work together in tandem, with the display doing the brains of the operation and the controller supplying electronics and driving the wheel. They need to be in constant communication. If there's a problem there it really could be one of the two or both. I just want to rule out other potential variables.

Which model are you running?

Error 30 represents either the controller and/or display are having trouble communicating with each other. You can try replacing one, the other, or both.

Tell us more about error 30. Are you able to run the bike at all? Does it pop up randomly?

Try unplugging everything from your bike apart from the display, controller, motor, and throttle. Does it still kick up the error?

Error 30 represents the display having a hard time communicating with the controller module, and/or the other way around. May be from corrosion, noise in the line, cable damage, etc.

Unplug and plugging all of the cables between the display and controller (including the hard to reach 8 pin one underneath the crank), visually inspecting inside connectors for debris, perhaps adding a little dielectric grease for good measure.

I occasionally take my RadCity out onto trails. For dirt and mud I tend to keep my pedal assist in lower settings, and drop down a couple gears (normally I just use 7th all the time). So. Probably want something with gearing and suspension. That said, you can install those things for less than the cost of a new rover. Have a look around the forums for things folks have done.

Another other thing to consider, how tight are the trails you're looking at? Fat tire bikes can be a bit of handful to maneuver around at lower speeds. Reduced weight of a mission may help there.

Bikes not going to collapse under you, your stopping distance greater as you approach the weight limit though.

If I remember correctly the international bikes are limited in maximum wattage. So while you have a hand throttle, it probably doesn't pull as much as it would in the states (750 watts).

To address the light being on. Without it, the power load may decrease just enough that, if there is say a corroded or loose connector, might not allow electricity to flow into the motor.

Adding a little dielectric grease onto your battery terminals should help. Probably add a little to the plug supplying your motor for good measure.
