Service & Repair / Re: USB charger not working
August 29, 2021, 05:59:20 AM
Wow! thanks a lot guys.. This worked for me. Kind of strange that you have to connect the device before turning ON the bike for the USB port to work. But anyhow, I should have RTFM before posting here. Lesson learnt.

tires are not included in the offer

only accessories

tires are considered parts
I think this explains it. Thanks for clarifying

Service & Repair / USB charger not working
August 25, 2021, 02:14:02 PM
The USB charging port on my LCD display is not working on my RW4. It has not been working for me since Day1. Anyone else has this issue? Any simple fix to it or contacting Rad is the only option?

Thanks!

I Can feel your frustration.. Somehow my 2nd set of springs is holding well so far! (Fingers crossed)
Once that breaks, I am going to try one of these:

They look pretty and seem to be an elegant solution.

Is your total of $103 for the items not including tax and shipping?  Normally coupons apply to base prices only.
Yes, 103 is the pre-tax and pre-shipping base cost.  Not sure what is wrong :-( If you have the time, can you try for yourself and let me know if you see the discount?
2x tires for Radwagon (22x3) and one set of Radwagon passenger pegs.

Thanks!

The code did not work for me for a combined order .. The total of 3 items is 103 but i get an error saying "This code isn't valid for the items in your cart"

FWIW, I have added RW4 tires and the footpegs. Don't see them in the list of excluded items in the 1st post..
Anyone has any ideas?

RadMission / Re: Can the Mission Tow a Kid Bike?
July 23, 2021, 02:21:11 PM
As far as I know, Rad recommends not adding any load to the rear axle (eg: rear rack,  trailer which attaches to the axle). I think this directly adds load to the motor and the 500W motor may not be powerful enough with this additional load.
My guess is that you should be fine if you are adding the weight to the frame (or seat post in your case) as long as you are within the total load capacity. Since the frame would help distribute the weight evenly between front and rear wheel.
However, this is just an educated guess and I am no expert on ebikes.

Hope this helps.

Etrailers recommended these 2 racks for a 1-1/4" receiver hitch for my 2 rad rovers

https://www.etrailer.com/p-HLY74FR.html

https://www.etrailer.com/Bike-Racks/Thule/TH903202.html

Does anybody have any experience with either?

I have not used it but have heard very good things about this rack from Hollywood. Rad too recommends (and sells?) the same rack for their e-bikes. The weight limit of 80 lbs per bike is more than enough for any radpower bike.
The Thule is much more convenient as it has a built in ramp for loading/unloading the bikes. So you do not need to lift the heavy bikes to load them to the rack. I think it is an important feature since lifting 60+ lbs is not something everyone would enjoy doing..

Hope this helps.

I thought this might be a good spot to share some ebike lock info. I recently spoke with someone from Kryptonite for my YouTube channel. There are of course other brands that I recommend but Daryl Slater was willing to come on the show and provide some useful info. More videos coming soon.

Thank you Ryan for posting this. This is really informative and useful!

Hi everyone from NorCal (SF Bay area!). We just got a RW4 used from Craigslist! I use it for office commutes and hauling the kids around and short shopping trips. Have put on ~300 mi on it in the 1st month.. Loving it so far!

Cheers!

I have a Hyundai Tucson. We have two evokes we would like to haul as well and I know how to weld so I could maybe even modify that motorcycle one to fit two. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard.

...so I can't leave this blank.  This is my cardiac rehab option.

Really nice setup! May I know what did you use to setup the two bottle holders in the ftont?

I Bought a Rad Mission a few weeks ago. The single Speed is a trade off. On one hand you get simplicity and less equipment that needs to be adjusted and less weight. The downside is when pedaling on a steep incline you will have to put a considerable pressure on your knees and the drivetrain and use full throttle. On moderate inclines it's not a problem. On declines or when going over 18 MPH your pedal cadence will be faster than desired with the single speed.

Something to consider: Will you be biking on lots off hills or mostly flat terrain?

If you want a very similar bike with 7 speeds, I would look a the Ariel Rideal.

Excellent advice. I second this. Also, if you are planning to do any gravel trails then the front suspension is really useful. Consider the Rad Rover 5/ Rad city 4.. Both also have gears.

I thought it would be useful if we could use our RAD eBike battery for back-up power or for camping. I designed and 3D printed a battery adapter. I also verified that you can use an MPPT solar charge controller to charge the battery. You can charge it at 120W while using the output power. Now we just have to convince RAD Power to manufacture/sell something like this as an accessory 🙂

I put the 3D print files at: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/70263-rad-power-ebike-battery-adapter

Hi Nafis,
This is a really cool project. Thanks for sharing with us. I am interested in making something similar myself. Will help during our multi day camping trips when we look for ways to charge our electronics. Is it okay to download your 3D print files from the link you provided? If yes, would they work with any 3D printer or does it have to be Prusa? I am new to 3D printing and am looking to buy one. If you have any advice on that, would really appreciate that too.

Thanks in Advance!
