Not that we ever have blizzards and super cold weather.....

Not a perfect solution, but will work until I can buy "real ones".

Good idea and find.  Can you please share a link to the ones you found/bought?
I assume they are also UV resistant, which would be helpful.
Assuming the sun will ever come out again....  ;)

Does anyone know the pin-out? Mostly interested in the function of the center three pins, since the outer higher current + and - terminals are self explanatory.
The three pins are not connected.

Thank you Sir!  Just the info I was looking for.
Now I just need to find some suitable "male" contacts for the + and - with dimensions about 2.0mm x 6.0mm.  For the current that will be drawn (very low), I expect some flattened lugs like these should work great.  A fuse and a switch before the DC/DC converter, and I should be able to charge a cell phone or similar for a very long time in an emergency.

Thanks for everyone's help!

I have bought a few of those from Rad in the past. they are called the Battery mount for Rover 6+ and City 5+. I would recommend getting the one for the HS bikes, it has a longer cable and can be easily cut and spliced if need be.  The ST version does not have enough to cut and splice, in my opinion. I think they are $40 if I remember right from my last order.

Thanks for the info.  Do you recall if the cable from the mount/connector connected all five pins, or just the higher current + and - ?

Yup, that's a possibility (contacting and buying one from RAD), and I may end up going that route.   There is a video on the RAD site showing how to replace the (bike-side) connector and harness ("Semi-Integrated Battery Mount Replacement"), so presumably they sell it if the bike side of the connector is damaged.
Perhaps it is a custom connector?

Thank you for your concern and I will use as much caution as I can. I am quite familiar with the fuse issue, having having been affected by it. I think I posted my rrepair results in the thread you referenced.

Any help identifying the connector is appreciated.

RadRover / Source for RR6+ battery connector?

Does anyone know where I could purchase the 5-pin connector (like on the bike side) for the RR6+ battery?  If it's been published here on another topic, apologies, I couldn't find it.

In other words, the mate for this on the battery (see attached).

Since the power goes out occasionally here, thinking the battery (removed from the bike) would be a nice back-up for emergency use. Cell phone charging, etc.
The battery could be used with something like this: https://amzn.to/3FEx4Zn

Any ideas?

Yahoo!

With the help from the info posted here, I just "fixed" (okay....replaced a blown fuse) a Semi-integrated battery.
Feeling happy at the moment.

Not sure why the fuse blew in the first place.  We certainly did NOT stick the key in the charger port.

A few observations on the "repair" process, although the above post has a good summary and excellent info/photos.

0) It may not be obvious to everyone, but the fuse replacement occurs at the top charge port/gauge end of the battery (not the end near the high current connector to the bike).

1) I believe the (flat) screwdriver approach for removing the plastic cap covering the two screws would work well for most people.  ...as long as the wide part of the flat screwdriver blade is sharp/square and the right width.  The idea is to tap the plastic cap where the seam is to drive the plastic cap "open".  After getting one side of the cap loose, you may need to go to the other side to loosen the cap completely.  I actually used a small sharp 3/8" wide chisel that worked great, but same idea.  I have no gouges or scratches on the plastic cap from removing it.

2) Yea, the shaft of the T10 torx-head wrench has to be the long enough to reach the screw head in the holes.  As was mentioned, one inch minimum.  Almost had to buy a set with longer shafts, but had something just long enough.

3) I noticed the four torx-head screws had a small amount if blue loctite near the tips of the threads. I didn't bother to put any new on them.

4) Mind the gasket when removing the end after loosening/removing the screws.

5) The 10A (ten amp) fuses are readily available and are referred to as ATM type (mini, not micro).  These are the ones I bought/used: https://amzn.to/3UCuCHp.   Hopefully these are not junk.  Although with a package of 20, I can do a lot of replacements...  ;D

Thanks to the people who put this info together, and best of luck if you attempt the "repair"!

*******  HAHAHAHAHAHA After posting this, I noticed there was a LOT more pages to this thread.  I just looked at the first page!
Feeling even luckier that I had a fixable battery  :o **********

Push the gauge button on the battery during 10 seconds, this put/unput the battery in ship mode

as what lucdrb said  :)

Even after sending this info to RAD confirming a bad battery, don't expect any quick action on their part.  A lot of foot dragging from them and wasted time is what you can expect, from our experience.
I received my battery a week after providing all the warranty information.  Not fun, but not bad turnaround.

Well, then you are fortunate/lucky.  It's been close to a month after my friend sent all the requested info, battery has still not shipped.  Starting to think RAD was a mistake the way they handle warranty issues.

...and still waiting for the replacement battery.

After waiting about a month, we received the replacement battery today.  Had no charge as received (not sure if that would be expected).  Is not accepting a charge after four hours, like the failed unit.  Come on RAD, WTF is going on?

OK, after finally getting through to RAD service on the phone, they indicate the new/replacement battery was probably sent to us in "ship mode".  Pressing the power button for 10 seconds takes it out of "ship mode" and shows us it has a full charge.  The Service person recommended that we go through the balancing procedure also at this point.

Maybe it's just me being an idiot, but why wouldn't RAD ship the battery with a written notice/instructions that the battery was in "ship mode" and needed to be taken out of "ship mode" before it could be used? ???

Uh oh, we might have another Rover 6+ that won't take a charge.....
Should be covered by warranty since they were new last fall.

I'll see if anything simple is being overlooked, and if I don't find anything will contact RAD.

Strange it seemed to occur within a week that one of the two identical chargers decided to stop working.

OK, it's definitely a bad battery (not taking a charge) on my friends Rover 6+.  Luckily we have two identical bikes/chargers so we can isolate/confirm issues quickly.  She sent all of the Rad requested photos and video and am awaiting a decision from them.  It's under warranty, so hopefully they take care of it quickly without a fuss.

Still waiting.... They sure are taking their time......

And still waiting....   Am getting more than a little pissed that RAD thinks so little of their customers to not expedite a solution.  or at least directly communicate what's going on.  A significant portion of the Michigan riding season is lost.

Still waiting...

After waiting about a month, we received the replacement battery today.  Had no charge as received (not sure if that would be expected).  Is not accepting a charge after four hours, like the failed unit.  Known good charger now shows green charged always with the replacement battery, like the failed battery... Come on RAD, WTF is going on?

OK, after waiting a month for a RR6+ battery replacement, covered under warranty, we/my friend finally received a replacement. Yay, finally...

- How much charge would you expect to be on the replacement battery we received?  It showed NO charge (no bars) as received.
- When we attempted to charge it with a known good charger (we have two identical bikes), for about 4 hours, it still shows NO charge.
- The charger now shows green light when attempting to charge the battery, like the original failed battery, when attempting to charge it.

In case you are wondering if I'm a normal idiot with no electrical/technical background, I am a Life Senior Member of the IEEE.  Look it up if you don't know what that means.
OK, I might be an idiot sometimes  ::), but not about stuff like this....

WTF RAD?

Just had to complete this form yesterday for my brand new bike. Battery was DOA. Support person said a 5 day backlog just for "Manager Approval" for a new battery to be sent.

I'm curious if your battery issue was resolved, and how....
