General Chat / Re: Winter eyewear?

My solution for fogging up a fullface helmet was to cut a drinking straw into two 3-4 inch bits and exhale out the bottom of the helmet. no more foggy visor or glasses.

For my radbike I use cheap clip on sunglasses on my prescription glasses with a fleece balaclava.  the wind while riding is enough to keep fog off the lenses, just uncover your nose at stoplights.

I always use the handlebar switch and then the key and mine has reset 3 or 4 times in a little over 2 years.

This happened a while back on my RadRunnerPlus, more than once actually.  Someone here said if you touch the brake lever while turning the power on or off, it will reset.  The bike still works fine so I'm not too worried about it.

So I searched and the Benno RemiDemi is actually a higher end, Radrunner styled bike with a steel frame, mid drive, and 20 x 4.25 tires.

I already ordered 20 x 3.5-4 tubes but they won't get here until tomorrow, guess I'm pedaling the old Rockhopper to work tomorrow.

2 different workers at the local ebike shop said they'd be fine for the Kenda 3.3 tires on the RadrunnerPlus.  It looked pretty skinny compared to the one I pulled out when I inflated it before putting it in the tire, but it seemed to seat the bead well enough at less than 10 psi and and held tight when I filled it to 30psi.  I'm hoping it won't burst on the first pothole I hit, but BMX tubes are made pretty tough, right?

Any words of wisdom or warnings before I take the bike for a ride?

The only marking on the bag is "Benno RemiDemi tube 20 x 3.25".

General Chat / Re: RW4 and 20 inch tires

the shinkos will be heavy, so be prepared for that.  there is also some confusing differences between bicycle and moped tires, like a 16 inch moped tire equals a 20 inch bicycle tire, but not always, depends on brands.  Are you going to re-lace the rad hubs onto aluminum moped rims?

I like reflective tape, white pinstripes on the sides of battery and center console, wider red strips on the rear fender and rack.

40 miles each way or round trip? How far can you get before the battery runs out?   I usually have to recharge mine about every 30 miles.

It has footpegs for one passenger or one spot in the rack for a child seat it they're younger.

I always ride with one of these cheap blinking usb lights on the handlebars plus the headlight, and a bright yellow helmet.  I'm all about safety/visibility, I got this bike to haul my kid to school.

I've been riding all week with the OZ light all week in 90 plus heat, all good so far.  Cord length is perfect for replacing Radrunner Plus headlight.  The mounting bracket is a lot thicker than the Rad one so a longer bolt was needed, and the bracket is shorter, so the headlight is only about an inch higher than the fender.  This might be a problem for night riding since the fender/tire blocks the light if you angle it downward, but it seems so bright it's probably fine for city riding, maybe not trail riding in the dark.  I usually only ride in the day so I can't say for sure yet.

Thanks, I'm gonna try out the OZ one.

General Chat / Any other headlights Rad compatible?
June 20, 2023, 05:51:21 PM
My premium headlight did its usual moving towards the sky and i did the usual push it back down and today the plastic mount on the bottom snapped.  Do any other lights out there have the same connector/mount/power consumption?  I don't want to splice wires if possible since my bike sits out in the rain when I'm at work.

Does anyone know the power consumption?

Can I just unplug it and use battery bike lights?

I'm used to vintage 2 stroke mopeds and if you run those without a headlight, all the other bulbs will blow out. Will running without a headlight overload other components on the RadRunner+ ?  I'm assuming no, since you can turn it off, but I just wanted to make sure.

General Chat / Re: Protecting the battery from theft

I tried my key in a co-workers rad bike, it turned one click to turn it off, but it did not go 2 clicks to unlock it.

I just take my battery inside when I'm at work, that way it's not sitting out in the hot sun/pouring rain all day.
