Thanks for the tip.  I was hearing loose spoke-like noises coming from my year old Mini's front wheel, and couldn't get rid of the noise by tightening spokes.  Took the front wheel assembly into the Rad repair shop and they replaced it under warranty with another wheel (and transferred my original tire to it).  The noises are now gone...

John, as you know, the front wheel is easier to reach and measure (and that is where I had the most loose spokes anyways).  I did that wheel first and got accustomed to using the wrench and how "tight" it felt to achieve the proper level of tension.  The measuring tool doesn't fit on the rear wheel because of the motor, but I was able to tighten up a spoke or two that had loosened and just matched the feel to what I was able to achieve on the front wheel...Too bad someone doesn't make a smaller tension gauge....

A couple of differences that you may or may not care about...

The step through has the cables/wiring inside the tube that goes back towards the battery, so it's a little cleaner looking.  The step-through also has the capability of mounting a water bottle bracket on that down tube (the screws are pre-mounted and ready to attach a bracket), whereas the regular Mini doesn't have that capability...

For what it's worth, and to help a future reader, I had loose spokes on my Mini and called Rad to find out what the tension spec is so I could tighten and measure the tension to verify.

They told me that the correct tension for the Mini spokes is 100 kilograms force (kgf).  On the tension measuring tool conversion table for 12 gauge steel round spokes (2.6mm), that corresponds to a reading of "32"...

I've only lifted mine into the tub (and it is heavy), but what if you put the tub on its side and put it up against something firm?  Then you could fold the bike next to it and sort of lay the bike down a bit and move it wheels first into the sideways tub and then shift the tub and bike into the upright position with the bottom of the tub on the ground? I'll have to try that...

Here's another data point. Our Minis were shipped in August 2020 after some delay, and I was able to increase the maximum speed on the menu and have it work and stick...

Cool.  Any chance you're going to use the tub method for transporting the bike?  If so, the foldable pedals are really nice and convenient when folding to fit in the tub.  Not sure if the ones you're looking at on Amazon have that folding feature...

I got my mini a few months ago and was in the same exact boat you are in. I bought the orange Rad rear rack, and much to my surprise, the bag I ordered from Amazon wouldn't fit because the straps were too short (not by much, either). Fortunately, my Dad is pretty handy and he welded me up a thin smaller profile metal rectangle out of 1/8" steel rod with triangular pieces in the corners that have screw holes that match the pattern for the Rad rack (installed with stainless hardware and spacers to raise it up).  The Amazon bag I bought has long enough straps to go between the new rectangle and the Rad rack and the new rectangle is just a bit smaller so the straps work okay and latch...

Maybe someone makes a similar plastic or metal bracket that would attach to the Rad rack that would accomplish the same thing if you can't find a bag with long enough straps...

Thanks for the clarification, John...I know that some people would probably prefer the frame-mounted baskets...I can always put it back on later if she changes her mind...I think she probably needs some additional time to get used to the bike....Thanks.

My GF bought the large Rad basket for her Mini step-thru and I installed it.  We never thought about this, but because the basket is attached to the front of the bike frame with the 4 screws, it means that the basket doesn't turn with the front wheel but points in the direction of the frame (so it "lags" the turns, if that makes sense).  After riding with it for awhile, she had me remove it because she said that it was affecting her sense of balance when riding and turning.

I have the Lowe's Craftsman 50 gallon bin and just used it for the first time a couple of days ago on my non-step thru Mini (but not with her bike and the basket). I did eyeball her bike just now, and it seems to me that the basket would be an impediment when folding in half and putting it in the bin.  Next time I do it, I'll keep an eye out and report back...
