It's fabulous! If you head to the West Shore Trail parking lot at Onondaga Lake Park, you can park, unload bike, and ride down the West Shore Trail. After a few miles of the WST, the trail  becomes the Empire State Trail after leaving the park, and follows 690 along the lake ---winds around the new Amphitheater---a huge bike bridge over the railroad brings you out at Destiny USA. You can get into a bike lane, ride about 30 feet along Hiawatha Blvd, and then turn onto Creekwalk Bike Trail that will take you from Destiny down to the Inner Harbor, through Downtown, and all the way to the south side of the city. It's about 25 miles round trip, from the West Shore Trail parking lot all the way to Kirk Park on the south side of the city and then back, super fun.

The East Shore Trail at Onondaga Lake Park is much wider for bikes, several miles long.

I also love biking the Erie Canal trailway. I've done Syracuse to Chittenango on my Rad, and want to pick up in Camillus and head to Weedsport/Port Byron next.

I've also went down Ithaca way and biked the Dryden-Freeville Rail Trail with my Rad.

There are also many dirt roads in the State Forests around here... Heiberg (part of ESF's Tully Campus), Morgan Hill State Forest, Winona State Forest, Bear Swamp State Forest. Haven't tried them yet, but they are next on my list, before hunting season really gets started. I'd stay off the hiking trails of course, but the dirt roads through the reserves are fair game, lol.

Up your way, you may want to also try Fair Haven State Park and Selkirk Shores State Park.

Hi Everyone! I'm a new RadMini Step-Thru 2 owner & work commuter! I love it--- love love love. But my biggest fear whenever I ride is a flat tire, so I'd like to practice a repair before I'm actually in need of one. I've watched Rad's Change-a-Flat video, and a few others. I'm not handy at all, but I'm ready to try!

Unfortunately.... I can't loosen the Axle Nut on the rear tire! It's on TIGHT. The bike is only 2 weeks old, they must have used Hulk Hogan to tighten this thing at the factory. Eek.

My (probably silly) Question:  Can I use WD-40 to loosen the nut?

If I use WD-40, will I ever get the tire back on and tight, or because of the grease on the lug nut threads, will it be super wobbly? I don't want the tire to come off when I'm riding down one of the big hills I have to tackle to get to work. 

Or... is there a better way to loosen an Axle nut?

My name is Jennifer, like Moparherb I also live in Central New York! Just got my RadMini Step-Thru 2 a couple weeks ago. I decided that driving my car to/from work was too much of a waste. My commute is 9 miles round trip, and the highlight of my day!

I'm a new RadMini Step-Thru 2 owner, and having read about the tub idea in several areas.. I purchased the largest tub I could, to be ready for my bike's arrival!

BUT...

I experienced the same issues you did. Hefting the bike into the bin was horrible. I get the chain, mechanics caught on the side repeatedly. Lifting hurt my back. Chain came off. That bike is H.E.A.V.Y.

After one really frustrating wrestling match with the bike and tub... I started just "riding" the bike up into the back of my Escape (with back seats folded down).

It's so much easier!!!

I fold the Rad handlebars down, remove the battery. Lift the front end of the bike onto the back of the Escape. "Walk" the second tire up. Lay the bike down with the chain facing up.

I brought the bin back to Lowe's and got my $$ back.

I wish I had the strength and agility to fold the bike, get it easily lifted in the tub, and get the tub in the back of my SUV without a struggle. It would certainly take up less room than putting it in "full size" with just the handlebars folded. But I just couldn't do it. Maybe I need to go to the gym more-??
