I was thinking along the same lines. May be use a 2x8 and nail a small quarter round molding along the edge to prevent getting off track (or on both sides). Also, you can buy a roll or strips of non-slip tape to run down the middle to give some traction especially if the tires are wet. For storage, maybe just flip the 2x8 on its side so it only takes up 2 inches on the side of the stairway.

RadMini / Re: Starting from scratch - odometer

I've read somewhere that if you turn the power off the battery with your key while the controller display is still on, that it can cause the odometer to zero out. May be nothing wrong with your display.

When you order the RAD assembly service, they come back to do a tuneup after 100 miles (150km).

Well that didn't go so well. The o-rings don't take much torque to flatten and spill out the sides so scrapping that idea.
Also, don't remove the 6 screws on the side of the controller. When you remove a screw, a small metal plate that the screw fastens to will drop out and is a b*tch to get back in place to rescrew.
For now, I just dabbed the two ends with some silicone and screwed them back on.

There is very thin gasket on the two ends, but I plan to put a bead of silicone around the edges.

Also, there are 16 small screws where water could get in under the heads, so I bought some 3mm o-rings and will be placing those under each screw (along with some blue Loctite since there will be less bite on the screws). Note: the 6 screws on the side are holding a component inside, so have to do one screw at a time so the component does not fall.

Thanks. That sounds like great advice. I will wait until after the tuneup and then install it, and if I need any warranty work, I will just revert it back. I'm in the process of waterproofing the controller as I can see several places where water could easily come in.

Hi all,

I received my Radrunner Plus in November and due to a massive amount of rain and now snow, I have only been able to rack up 60 KM so far. I paid for the Rad assembly and delivery which means once I hit 150 KM, Rad mobile will come over and tune my bike for free. Being I live in very hilly West Vancouver, it wasn't long before I realized I needed the 35A Controller upgrade which I just received.

Question is: Should I install the controller now or should i wait until after Rad does the 150KM tuneup? I read posts that seem to suggest that once you upgrade, it voids the warranty.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Do all of the Radrunner Plus bikes come with tannus armour installed? I received mine in November (Canada) and no idea if it was installed.

Here's a little Excel Spreadsheet I put together to keep track of my settings once I get the controller. You may find it useful as well.

Thanks for the photos. Will come in handy when it arrives. Is it just the screw heads that need to be waterproofed, or are there other areas? There is a rubber tape called Magic Tape which I was thinking of just wrapping the entire controller with. Do you think it would overheat is totally wrapped? Also, did everything line up for you or did you have drill new holes in the stock kick plate?

Great. Looking forward to some pics. Read one article where they said you had to set the wheel size to 23" because there was no 22" option. Is that correct?

I have a Radrunner Plus as well and just ordered the 35A controller & display from Bolton. (Bolton is over $60 cheaper right now since they sell both as a kit and save on shipping). Can you share any tips on installing the controller on the RR+ ?  I'd love to share/compare settings once I have mine installed.

Why not send everyone a Paypal invoice? That way you would have your working capital early.

That looks great! I haven't done any mechanical upgrades yet. Waiting until after my 150km inspection from Rad.

Can you show a list of initials of those on your list? Want to make sure I'm on it.
PS Price is very reasonable.

Cheers,
