this seems to be the very definition of first world problems.

General Chat / Re: New RadKick | Thoughts?!

my takeaway here is that they need to be better about the battery infrastructure.

we now have the semi-integrated, the external, and these smaller rounded off semi-integrated.

i'd be more apt to lean into one of these if they want with their regular semi integrated as i already have two of those, but not really interested in yet another battery - if i'm going that route, i'd probably opt away from a Rad.

keep these updates coming - i'm about 6 months from getting the new bike (recovering from a torn rotator cuff so no need to rush), but i'm loving your comments.

thank you for this post. I've got a RR6+, and when i get around to getting my next bike, the Radster Road is one of the two i'm leaning towards, and probably slightly more towards it since i'm already deep into the battery infrastructure with two semi-integrated batteries.

Quote from: inoxa on July 06, 2024, 02:56:46 PMIf it isn't a new bike then you could consider a new controller upgrade.  It will boost your speed some and add torque.  It will come with one color display to replace the 2 displays you have now.

Area13 or electro bike world will carry it.

this is probably the next step for me and my 2 1/2 year old RR6+. just added a second battery (not running in tandem), so now need to determine which controller i like better.

thanks for this. at some point, i'll get something more commuter friendly than my RR6+ - because i already have two semi-integrated batteries, moving onto this bike seems like a natural fit, albeit the price.

that price definitely makes it more expensive than some of the other bikes i'm looking at, like the Aventon level 2. then again, i may sit tight and see how the next year goes re mid-drives, belts, etc.

Quote from: JimInPT on June 21, 2024, 12:42:51 PMYou seem mighty touchy about California's failure to enforce laws; gee, wonder why that might be?  Exhibit A: San Francisco.  Exhibit B: Los Angeles.  Hard to deny the thousands of videos out there documenting the ruin - have you seen the ones with thieves scraping shelves clean into giant garbage bags (taking some care not to exceed the dollar value that makes it a possibly-prosecutable crime) and just pedaling their bike out of the Walgreens unobstructed

Just so you know, I was born there, grew up there, lived in both Exhibit places and fled almost 30 years ago, but still have a few relatives trapped there watching it all decompose.  It's just sad (and entertaining for those of us not trapped there), but it's not accidental nor unexpected, no matter the lame defenses mounted for it all.  Did you notice Oakland's mayor getting her house raided by the FBI/IRS yesterday, along with her garbage-collector paymasters at three other sites?  How fun!  Don't park your e-bike in Oakland, for sure, if you'd like to have it tomorrow.

no - i think it's annoying AF that some folks feel the need to throw out their politics and misinformation related to their politics in a place that oughta be politic free.

your post was ill-informed at best, maybe dishonest, and an outright lie at worst.

the statement "California, which has made crime legal" is a lie. period. California has not made crime legal, no matter how much some fear mongers want to paint it as such.

which bike are you on?

but yea, fat tires are going to definitely eat up some range and you've got to work harder to pedal. there's more rubber touching the pavement with fat tires.

Quote from: JimInPT on June 08, 2024, 10:59:56 AMThat's a very complete set of photos of both the thief and his vehicle and you're right that front/rear large baskets is a pretty unusual setup - if he can be found, that ought to do it.... good luck!  I assume a Rover 6+ would qualify for felony theft, except for maybe California, which has made crime legal so anything can be stolen and nobody does anything.
,
why is it that people feel compelled to make asinine and inaccurate political statements in places they don't belong, feeling smug and clever when they do so? SB 553 and Prop 47 did not making crime (read: theft) legal in any way shape or form.

More often than not, these sorts of ignorant posts can be debunked in record time, and this one was no different. The odds are that if something seems silly, absurd, or, well, asinine, it is.

There are plenty of places for political statements. This board shouldn't be one of them.

Quote from: rayling on April 24, 2024, 07:48:41 AMHi, I just bought a used RadRover 6 plus and the battery was dead. I ordered the proper charger from Rad. I got a really good deal and hoping the battery will take a charge. Looking for feedback.  Thanks

a used ebike with a dead battery and no charger screams of a stolen bike.

you should check the bike's serial number on the sites that track stolen bikes.

you should probably check the serial number on some of the stolen bike sites like Bike Index or Project 529 - if a bike is sold without a battery, it's not unreasonable to suspect the bike might have been stolen.

i haven't settled on my second battery yet, but leaning towards this Super Shark or this mini shark, but man, i hate how expensive batteries are...

If it were me I would go with a 20 to 24 amp battery.  That is where you will increase your range without being too large a battery.  Amazon has them.

The problem is that Amazon has a lot really questionable batteries quality and safety wise.

It lets you connect both batteries and drains them both at the same time. It's not where it uses one fully and then switches to the other. It uses the both until they are both used up.

it just occurred to me - how does the stock Rad battery indicator on the handlebars work in conjunction with two batteries running together - essentially no different than if it's one battery?
