The problem could be caused by one or several issues. The chain might be stretched; the freewheel could be worn, or your derailleur might just need more adjustment than you?ve already given it.

There are many good videos on YouTube to give you guidance, but if you?re not a do-it-yourself kind of person, then I?d suggest you take it into a bike shop for service. After 2500 miles it just needs a little TLC.

Service & Repair / Re: New freewheel for Rad Mini4?

40 kinda sounds about right. The most important thing is the ratio of gearing. You can find 14-34 everywhere but the Mini has an 11-34!

That small 11 tooth cog is pretty important for top speed on a small wheeled bike.

So......do your search for a "7 speed 11-34 freewheel"
Thank you!  Got one ordered.

Service & Repair / New freewheel for Rad Mini4?
March 26, 2022, 05:34:24 PM
The bearings are shot on the freewheel for my mini4 and so I'd like to replace it. Rad wants $40+ plus shipping for a new one which seems awfully high to me.

I'm guessing that this is a standard item used for other kinds of bikes but I don't know what to even search for or what to ask. Can anyone give me any advice on what to search for, or the model or size?  Are there any good sources for these?

Thanks for any help that you can give.

I would first check and clean the freewheel. It sounds like the pawl in the freewheel is stuck. if this doesn't help you may consider contacting Rad for a new freewheel. Don't forget to get a freewheel removal tool from Rad as well.
Thanks!  I'm a real novice about all this but I searched online for freewheel and I think you're right. I'll service it and see what happens.

RadMini / Mini4 takes off on its own…
March 10, 2022, 09:15:22 PM
My wife and I both have Mini4's that we really like. My bike, however, occasionally has a mind of its own that I'd like to tame.

If I walk beside it with the bike turned on, the pedals go round which fools the bike into thinking it's being ridden. When this happens the pedal assist kicks in and the bike wants to take off on you. This was quite a surprise the first time it happened and luckily I had a firm hold on it and got it stopped. My wife's bike doesn't do this (thank goodness).

Can anyone give me a hint how to stop this?  Obviously the crank should not revolve while the bike is just being pushed, but I don't have any idea what to adjust to stop it.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
