Hey, thanks. This sounds promising. I don't know of anyone near me with a Rad bike but I'm sure I'll be able to find someone

Is there a light attached to the fender or something? Do you mean electrical wire to the rear light, or the wire struts that hold the fender in place? What actually keeping the motor from working here?

Hey, so I explained it poorly. I'm referring to the electrical wire to the rear light. The wiring is attached to the bottom side of the fender. So, although the light isn't directly attached to the fender, its wiring is.

I think this wiring simply goes from taillight to controller. However, Rad insisted that I replace the rear fender and its wiring for the taillight before moving on to further troubleshooting steps because of the exposed wire tubing. They didn't fully explain why.

As for what's stopping the motor from working, my battery is fully charged but when I turn on the bike, the LCD displays low battery and the bike automatically shuts off. I went through every basic troubleshooting step but no luck.

RadCity / After-market Rad City ST 3 Rear Fender?
May 16, 2022, 05:29:49 PM
Hello,

Does anyone know of a place to buy a rear fender and the wiring for the tail light for a Rad City Step Thru 3? I mean after market or DIY solutions.

The rear fender replacement has been out of stock from Rad since at least April 7. I'll spare the details because I'd end up ranting about this experience but long story short, Rad is telling me that I need to replace the rear fender and its wiring before moving onto the controller and wiring harness for my non-functional bike.

I feel so scammed right now that my $1500 bike is completely non-functional and I was told there's no possible solution besides waiting for the fender to be back in stock someday.

I have the same problem, the LCD shows "error 30".... Could you solve the problem?

Hello, sorry that you're having the same issue. Unfortunately, I have been unable to fix it. All the connections look good. Rad wants me to spend $150 to get a new wiring harness and controller.

My LCD doesn't display any error codes though, so the error 30 might be a helpful hint for your bike.

This page looks tedious but probably worth trying:

Hello,

My Rad City Step-Thru 3 automatically shuts off within seconds of being turned on. The battery is fully charged but the LCD screen displays one blinking block for the charge. Then, bike shuts off.

I tried all of the troubleshooting steps here: https://radpowerbikes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046016954-Troubleshoot-a-Bike-that-Won-t-Turn-On-bikes-with-external-battery-#!

I also replaced 40A fuse on the battery. None of this fixed anything.

The LCD display does *not* display any error codes, nor does it behave strangely.

Has anyone experienced something similar to this or have any suggestions? Rad has been ignoring my ticket request for over 3 days.

Hello,

My Rad City Step-Thru 3's battery is fully charged (verified by the battery gauge indicator and the charging block). However, when I turn on my bike, the LCD screen displays one blinking block for the charge, to indicate no charge remaining. The bike automatically shuts off within a few seconds.

The only thing that's out of the ordinary is that the wire tubing that connects to the brakelight is broken in 2 areas where it feeds through the rear fender at the back. However, the wire itself looks completely fine (I'll protect it before I ride again) and the brakelight turns on and functions normally for the brief time that my bike stays on before the bike automatically shutting off.

To be clear, the LCD display (before it automatically shuts off) does *not* display any error codes. It still shows the mileage and speed assist setting, and it does not flicker or act strangely. It simply looks how it should if the battery was out of charge (but the battery is fully charged).

Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Rad has been ignoring my ticket request for over 2 days and I was kept on hold on the phone today (couldn't get through), so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!
