I have a Rad Rover 5 but I have no way to transport it when needed. I have been looking at folding bike for a few months now. From what I have seen I can get a folding bike in either the trunk or back seat of my Camry. At least this way I can take it with me or to the shop. Being I really like my Rover I wanted to get another RAD but their prices are just to high for what you get. I have been looking at the Lectric XP 2.0. It's $600 cheaper. I do like the looks of the Expand 5 better but I think you get more bang for your buck with the Lectric.

My best friend and his wife just bought a lectric xp 2.0 and it seems like a really solid bike for the money. The pedals are a little small but for a trunk bike it would be perfect.

General Chat / Re: RadRunner or RadCity ?

I?m 5 10? and around that weight currently. I don?t think it will be a problem as far as comfort goes. Obviously you?ll want to adjust your seat post to your preferred pedaling position. It supports a crazy long post as well so I?m sure it?s going to be very accommodating.

I?ll let you know once I get my bike in and how comfortable it is.

Originally I ordered a RadCity 5 plus and had nothing but issues with the controller being DOA and support dragging their feet with a replacement due to stock issues of the new controller. Also it was a pain to try and get an exchange bike sent out. In the end I ended up submitting a return request for it and put in an order for a Radrunner plus. Currently waiting for that to come in now.

Just went through an identical procedure with Rad service. Not as lucky as you, in my case it looks like I need a new controller. They are shipping me a new one, hopefully they aren't back ordered.
They are currently back ordered to the best of my knowledge. The first guy I spoke to told me they had them in stock and it would ship immediately. Called them a day later and was told they haven?t had them in stock for nearly a month and don?t have an eta of their next shipment.

Unfortunately Rad doesn?t have the controller in stock for the 5 plus. I received my bike last week but neither my throttle or PAS work at all.

When I spoke to them on Tuesday they said they have no ETA on when they?ll be getting more controllers in stock. I submitted a request to have a replacement bike sent out in the meantime. If they choose not to replace my bike within the 14 day window I?ll just return it and maybe pick up a rad city 4 instead since 3rd party parts are more available for that model.

Has anyone tried the Bolton aftermarket controller/display upgrade? My bike was DOA and RAD hasn?t been able to give me a timeline on a replacement controller.

I?m hoping to find a third party controller that will work for the time being as I haven?t been able to even ride my bike that I just purchased.

I?m hoping they?ll send me a replacement bike but I?m just trying to plan ahead in case.

RadCity / Re: Rad City 5 plus - PROBLEMS??
May 24, 2022, 07:50:36 PM
My bike was DOA when I received it last week. Support put in an order for a new harness, new controller, and hardware kit(bike was also missing bolts for the bike stem)

The harness and hardware kit already shipped, controller has not. I contacted support today for an eta in the controller. They have no eta on when they?ll even get them in stock.

I requested a new bike be sent out since I haven?t even been able to try this one out. I?m supposed to hear their decision in 1-2 days.  Not everyone is having these issues but they can happen to you. Just be aware that it is a possibility.

My biggest issue currently is not having a third party option for the controller currently. I?m trying to find information on whether or not the Bolton upgrade is compatible with the five plus but haven?t found any concrete documentation stating that it is.

I really wish I would of bought a rad city 4 just for the simple fact that it has third party options for parts already.
