None of those are the integrated battery of the Rad City 5

I receive tons of emails from ebike and battery manufacturers. This most recent one caught my eye as they are claiming it is a replacement battery for Rad Power Bikes that fit the same cradle. Note I have zero affiliation with the seller nor can comment at all on the quality of the packs. Simply passing along the information and photos.

From the email I received "This is our new model, same mount plate as rad power bikes. U009 48v 14.4ah LG4800mah-21700 cell 30A bms 2A charger 214USD. Lead time about 5 days. Shipping cost by air to US:85 USD including clearance, tax, 10-12days, door to door. Max specification:48v 20ah/52v 17.5ah."

Unit Pack Power (Shenzhen Unit Pack Power Technology Co)

Went through every connection I could find following RAD trouble shooting and nothing, still have the same problem. The UI remote shows one blinking battery bar (battery is fully charged) than the UI display shows error 30 and shuts down. What I don't understand is that it worked for a short while. Neither the throttle nor the power assist work. It's dead!

Did you ever resolve this issue, and if so, how?

RadCity / My new Rad5 is a total piece
August 12, 2022, 12:36:21 PM
First it had battery issues right out of the box and now my bike won't stay on. It turns on then the number 30 flashes on the display and it shuts down.

Note control panel showed one bar, battery was at 5 or 6 bars.
And yes, I checked all the connections and they were fine.

Any news?

Hi,

I ordered a RAD wagon 4 cargo bike and accessories on 18th May and was told it will take 5-8 weeks for a UK delivery from the .eu website.
I received the accessories within 2-3 weeks but it's been 9 weeks and I still don't have a bike.
Frustratingly it had been for a birthday gift and I missed the date.

Has anyone else received a bike to the UK? Or from the .EU site? Lately.

getting worried as I spent ?2000+ and if I order a different bike I'll have to do something with all the accessories.

Thanks,
Ryan

General Chat / Re: Center stand possible?
July 27, 2022, 08:48:10 PM
My Rad Power Wagon came with a center stand. Very easy to use.

But when I look at my Rad5 I don't see any way the center stand could work. The Power Wagon has the extended rear fork and that makes room to bolt the stand on but on a regular sized bike I don't think the pedals would clear it.

I just ordered a Radrover 6 plus.  Years ago, I rode motorcycles and always found the center stand more stable than the kickstand, so that's whay I'm used to.  I see there are some aftermarket center stands out there... does anyone have experience with these or an opinion if they would work with a Radrover?

General Chat / Re: Rad Semi-Integrated Battery Pack

Well I had to jump through several hoops including submitting several pictures and a video not once but twice
and it has taken a while BUT today I received this email so eventually (hopefully before summer is over) I will
be able to ride my new bike.

I also have a 2017 Rad Power Wagon and it has been a good bike with no issues. I really like the bike
and I have been satisfied with it so, in spite of this hiccup with the new integrated battery, I can and will
recommend Rad to anyone looking for an ebike.

Hey there,

I am very sorry for the late reply. We have been experiencing an extremely high amount of support requests lately, both email and phone calls, and have been working through them as best we can in the order received.

Your battery replacement was approved and I went ahead and placed an order for your new battery to the address you confirmed, order #--------.

Our batteries are classified as Hazardous Materials and due to this, must abide by Federal HAZMAT regulations. Before batteries are fulfilled from our warehouse, they have to go through HAZMAT certification and approval to ensure safe shipment, which takes roughly 5-7 business days to complete. Once the certification is approved, your battery can then begin the fulfillment process which takes 3-5 business days for your order to leave our warehouse. Batteries must be shipped via ground transportation, so transit times will vary beyond that depending on your location in the US or Canada. You will receive a shipping confirmation email when the order has left our warehouse, which will include a tracking number from the courier.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting your order to you as soon as possible!

Thank you,

-------.

I noticed drag on my power wagon. I figured a motor is going to add drag when not engaged. It's the difference between a regular bike and an ebike. I guess I could be wrong and the drag could indicate a problem but I never looked into it.

This is obviously a frustrating situation. And anyone with a new piece of equipment?car, dishwasher, mower, whatever?that has issues can relate to your circumstance. I must say the one thing in my experience with RAD buying two bikes in the past year is how responsive customer support is. I?ve never been on the phone more than a handful of minutes before speaking to a rep. Granted not all their representatives are on the A team but that?s true for any company?s customer support. But you seem to be stiff armed by them which is a head scratcher. That?s really unfortunate. Hope things get ironed out for you soon.

Their customer service personnel seem to be located somewhere in Europe or Africa. The GMT+2 time stamp
and stilted English give it away. They have requested photo/video proof twice now which I have delivered as
instructed, but have not communicated one way or the other if they are satisfied with the evidence I have submitted.

I think they are understaffed in customer service. Took they a few days to assess my battery claim, but they eventually approved it. Battery still hasn?t shipped though.  Hang in there and keep at them.

The customer service must be somewhere in Europe or Africa. The time stamp is GMT+2. About 10 hours ahead
of where I am. Also the language in the emails is stilted like someone whose first language is not English.

UPDATE: Issue still unresolved. I have not been able to ride my brand new Rad 5.

Customer Service is dragging their feet.

Today I got an email from Rad asking if I would recommend Rad to a friend. What am
I supposed to say? If they don't resolve this issue my new bike is useless.

I have a battery that looks like it won?t charge anymore. Got the bike just 2 months ago.

Rode last night and pulled the batter to charge it. Got up this morning and the battery level had not changed. Charger light is green.

Threw it on my wife?s charger and it has the same issue - charger shows green but the battery has only 6 bars.

The battery will power up the bike and run.

I?ve always used the correct plug in sequence (battery to charger, then charger to outlet) when charging.

Any ideas on what gives? Sounds like the internal fuse went but I have no idea how that could have happened.

I'm having the same problem with my brand new 5. My battery won't charge. I have not got to ride the brand new bike yet
because the battery stays at 4 bars while the charger gives the green light.

I contacted Customer Service. After several days they got back to me and requested several pictures and a video
which I sent to them but I have not heard back from them. Sucks to have a brand new bike that I still haven't
been able to ride and they are dragging their feet.

If they don't replace the battery this bike is useless and I will have to return it along with the $600 worth
of accessories I bought.

UPDATE: Matter still not resolved.
After days of no communication they had me resend the requested pictures...
...did they lose the first batch or is this a stall tactic?
Still have not ridden my new Rad5

Mine was delivered a few weeks ago and the battery won't charge.
Customer service took days to respond and then they wanted several
pictures and a video of the defects. I sent all that in but have not heard back from them.

Can't ride my brand new bike because I can't charge the battery.

I will let you know if they eventually send me a working battery or if I have to return the bike and
all the accessories I ordered with it.

So I?ve been considering this new Rad bike.

But I have read a number of reviews of the bike coming with faulty parts.  Battery not working after 1 use, break line broken, non functional, good for a few spins and then quits.  Replacement parts being sent out and not helping, or waiting for parts to arrive for long periods of time.   But also a number of positive reviews....  but it?s the bad ones that cause concern!

So my question is...  is there a problem with this new bike?  Rush to produce for high demand equating to more mistakes?  Bad parts due to supply issues?

What are the thoughts on this?
