RadRover / Re: Stem riser/handlebar sizing?

Yes. When I first bought it I installed it that way. I thought I wanted it pointing back so I could sit more upright. The handlebars felt too close for me, so I turned it around the other way.

Ok, got it.  Thanks for the quick reply!

If the Rover 6 is the same size as the Rover 5, here's the one I installed. It's a 95mm length for handlbar diameter 31.8mm/1.25".

Looks like a nice stem.  I see where these stems are 'normally' installed with the top piece forward.  Can it be installed in a back facing position?  My goal is the bring the handlebars up/back, not to lean more forward.

RadRover / Stem riser/handlebar sizing?
August 29, 2022, 03:36:47 PM
I would like to get an adjustable stem riser to help with a more upright position on my RR6+.  I looked on these forums, but the only thing I saw was a stem to raise the height.  I would also like to have an angle adjustment.  I didn't see any specs as to what size the stem/handlebars are and it seems there are multiple sizes out there.  \

Does anyone have such a measurement?  Thanks!

RadRover / Kinda sorry I bought a RR6+
August 16, 2022, 02:20:35 PM
Well, not totally, but their customer service sucks.  A brand new RR6+ came with 3.5-4.5 psi in the tires.  After assembly, I pumped them up to 18 to see how the ride was.  I put about 5-6 miles on it like that.  I wanted to see what a higher pressure would feel like, so I set my pump to 25psi.  At about 22psi the tube had a massive failure, as in it sounded like a gunshot and when I removed the tube, it has a burst in it of about 1 foot!  I can only think the tube was defective and/or it was installed wrong at the factory.

I sent Rad a request for them to replace the tube, explaining what happened in detail.  Today, I get a reply and am told that tubes are a 'wear and tear' item.  Are you kidding me?  A puncture I understand is on me, but a tube blowing up when the pressure was well within the range should be covered on a brand new bike.  To add insult to injury, they sent me an invoice to buy a tube.  Cold day in "H" I will ever buy anything from them again.  I shot them back a request for it to be escalated to a supervisor.

I've learned quite a bit on these forums and just wanted to pass on my experience.

UPDATE:  After posting the above I got this reply:  "I spoke with my team and the photo you included looks like the inner tube was pinched by not being seated properly.  I can cover a replacement at this time but we will be unable to approve in the future."

Well, duh, if I replace the tube and screw it up, then of course that's on me.  I just wanted them to stand behind what THEY did.  So anyway, it looks like it is resolved in my favor after calling them out on it.  I hope you all have a better experience with CS than this, should you need to use it.

Is there a "trick"?

Yes. The trick is an air compressor. Jam the nozzle under just the edge of the grip an blast away. This is what bike shops use for install and removal.

Thanks for all the replies.  I had my bike checked out at the local shop and had the guy order me a stem riser, so that should do it.

I called them and yeah, they recommend 16 oz per tire on a 26x4 tire.  Based on this thread, I think I will try 8 ounces and see what happens.  Thanks for the heads up!

VegasSteve,
How did your experience with flat out go?
Questions,
Is it messy?
Did you use the sportsman formula?
How much did you end up using? I also have the 26x4 tires on my 2021 Radrover.
Thanks, Paul

Sorry for the slow reply.  Not really messy, used the multi formula. Went well for the back tire, however, before adding flat out, I had been playing with tire pressures for the best ride and had a major failure of the front tube (think like... BOOM!!!).  Maybe the tube was pinched when installed?  Anyway, I'm waiting on a replacement tube.  Not too concerned about the front tire anyway as it's pretty easy to change the tube in that one.

RadRover / handlebar question
August 07, 2022, 12:07:01 PM
I'm 6'1" and I find that I am 'reaching' more for the handlebars than I like, prefering a more upright position.  I see some suggest a stem riser, but with the wiring, I can't see how you could gain much that way.  If I could tilt the bar a bit, that might help some, but then the palm rests on the grips would be pointed down.  I can see how to adjust all the other handlebar components attached if I do that EXCEPT for the grips, which seem pretty solidly attached.

Is there a trick to rotating the grips or do you have to rip them off and get new ones?

Instructions are on the product page for the Front Rack. Most companies are going to online instructions. The 6+ does not need the brake line moved. this is only for cable brakes and only if the cables bind too much after installation.

Thanks, but they could have at least put a slip in the box directing one to the web page for assembly.  I've never run into absolutely no paper in a box like this, but hey, I'm old.  :(   Took a bit, but I figured it out and got it together ok.  I will say, the overall build quality seems very good, especially considering the price.

Glad you posted this, maybe it will save someone else a little frustration.

Update: FedEx scanned my bike today and it arrives tomorrow.
Looks like a fun weekend ahead!

Great news!  I was actually shocked that my bike arrived as quickly as it did (two days).  The bike beat the accessories I ordered at the same time by 4 days!

Assembly went pretty well, I have a little rub on the front brakes and man, those bolts are on tight.  NP, I'm taking it into a bike shop to check my work anyway.  I will say, be aware that this is a newer model and the manual is very good.  However, other than the RR6+ assembly video Rad put up, other videos on accessories & such don't always match up.  Just FYI, good luck!

RadRover / Re: What RAD Needs for Battery Replacement
August 03, 2022, 03:47:21 PM
Lots of hoops to jump thru, but it's an expensive part, so I guess I can understand.

To the OP:  Did your battery come 'dead' or did something happen?  Just wondering if these things die on their own or it's not following the BOOB protocol for charging or something else.  Really seems like a poor design on Rad's part with all the issues reported.

RadRover / Front rack heads up
August 03, 2022, 03:43:14 PM
The front rack itself seems solid and well built.  No instructions included.  Looked simple to do though, so I started.  Then I thought I would look at a Youtube video just to be sure.  On the video, they show 'splitting' the wires before mounting the rack.  So I take it off and I'll be darned if I can find a way to split those wires.  The wires channel together into the downtube on one side, so splitting them would seem to involve some disassembly, which I'm not inclined to do.  Maybe the video was prior to the RR6+ and wiring changed?  Anyway, I tied them together as best I could and tried to make sure there was no strain on the wires.  Kind of a PITA and Rad should really include instructions, IMHO.  I also got the back rack (also no instructions), but since there doesn't appear to be any kind of wire involvement, I'm hoping it goes better.  Just FYI.
