RadRover / Re: Throttle control RR6+.

Hello Naranja,
Well I'm happy to report that your suggestion of removing my zip ties worked!
Not exactly sure why how a basic zip tie could short something, but since removing them, things are working as expected.

I'll either repositioning zip ties, secure with black electrical tape, or try velcro strips.

Thank you!

Hello Naranja, apologies for the late reply.
I'm very sure I have the RA5 also (two of them).

While I'm not 100% sure about what you are asking...

I've included a picture of how I mounted the bottom of the rack. The tubing on the rack is hollow. I cut (and painted black) a two inch (estimated) piece of wooden dowel. Pre-drilled a bolt hole, and inserted it inside the tube. I'd suggest using a piece of dowel which fits snuggly. The sole purpose of the dowel is to give the tube's mounting structure (it allows you to tighten down the bolt without crushing the tubing. I believe I also had to drill a hole on the back side of the tube to allow the bolt to thread into the bike's frame's mount point.Hope this is helpful.

Hello,

I was able to get the Ibera rack installed on my 2 RR6+ and posted the success.
(Search for Ibera w/i the Rad Modifications section).
I provided some instructions and photos.

There was some trial and error, and very minor fabrication.

If any RR6+ owners have questions or find my post confusing, feel free to reach out so that I can give back to the forum, and improve my post.

RadRover / Throttle control RR6+.
September 03, 2023, 01:33:59 PM
Hello,
I recently added the popular handle bar extension to my RR6+. I was very careful to not put any stress on the handlebar wires and cables. But shortly after the installation, my RR throttle is now acting like the wire(s) inside the throttle itself don't have secured connections.

Specifically, about 50% of the time, everything works fine. The other 50%-ish the throttle does not work. The big clue is that if I gently push the wire towards the rear of the bike (near where the wire enters the throttle), then the throttle kicks in and works fine.

Is it possible to dis-assemble tth throttle and inspect the wires and their connections? Or is it a one-piece unit?

Thank you for any advise or tips.

Rad Modifications / Re: Radrover 6 Plus and Ibera Rack

RJP, here you go.

They are about 5/8 in length and I suppose they are shims for maybe non-fat-tire bikes?  I found that trying to use them pulled the vertical bars out too far (the mounting area near the sprocket) and made it somewhat difficult to seed the screws (poles angled out). They came with the Ibera rack as part of their hardware kit.  They are much like the spacing plastic you'd get when you buy a TV wall mount setup.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I decided on the Ibera rack because the OEM rack from Radrover is expensive as well as the shipping costs and seems to have supply chain problems.

Have a good one.

Rad Modifications / Radrover 6 Plus and Ibera Rack

Hello, purchased an Ibera Bike rack for RR6+. Learned that Ibera makes an extension rod (IBERA 11" Longer Rods One Pair for IB-RA4/RA5 Carrier Rack). Purchased both on Amazon. After some trial and error, I was able to get a nice install (away from the seat, close to the fender, and level)!

I put a 2 inch piece of hardwood dowel (painted it black) in the hollow tubing to create structure w/i the tube, drilled thru (middle hole) the dowel and back side of aluminum tubing on the post, and mounted the rack. While am not using the Ibera steel mounting posts, one could cut them to size and use them in place of the dowel (to create structure w/i the hollow tube). Also, I did not use the plastic spacer.   One tip is to leave all the screws loose while installing the rack. Once you have all the screws seeded, then tighten things up.

Happy with the result and wanted to share. (3 pictures)
