Service & Repair / Re: RR6+ battery
August 04, 2023, 11:18:47 AM
The reasons for the fuse blowing that I stated came from someone at Rad. What you say makes a lot of sense when I think about it. Our battery was only 3 weeks old when the fuse went and we didn't do anything that would have caused it to go. So a bad batch of fuses may be it. I didn't save it, unfortunately. It was marked as 10amp but it didn't look like it was the same quality as the one I replaced it with. It looked flimsy. Like the plastic wasn't as robust. Rad did send a new battery under warranty but I thought I would attempt the fix and it worked out well. No problems with the repair.

The fuses can blow by anything conductive coming in contact with the charging port including moisture or anything metal. It can also happen if you leave the charger plugged in while connecting or disconnecting it from the battery. The position and design of the charging port seem to be a problem with the integrated batteries on the RR6+.
After replacing the fuse you need to reseal the blue insulated cover over the fuse. I used a very high-quality weatherproof electrical tape made by 3M called "Super 88". I believe it is rated for use underground and is waterproof and chemical resistant. The tape and adhesive are very strong. It will do the job for sure. You should be able to find it at hardware stores that serve tradesmen like Home Depot. Ask for it by name.  Of course, for liability reasons, Rad would never be able to say this can be done safely.

Sounds like a blown charging fuse. It's a 10amp mini-blade automotive fuse and I fixed one last week using the video Handlebar suggests as a guide. The battery works fine now.

Handlebar- Did you have any issues with cables or wiring being too short? There is some slack in the RR6+ but not much.

Handlebar -- You got me ! LOL  "WHERE can I purchase"  Thanks you've been a great help.

RadRover / How can you raise the handle bars on a RR6+

I have 2 RR6+ bikes and would like to raise the handlebars a little. Has anyone done this successfully? What parts are required and can you purchase them?

Adam I had ordered 2 bikes and when the 2nd one came yesterday it had the exact same problem. Rad has shipped a replacement UI remote for the first bike I received and it is to arrive this Tuesday. I reported the same problem on my 2nd bike yesterday afternoon and they had already created an order for the 2nd UI by the end of the day. So they do seem to be looking after the issue. I'm glad because I really like the design and comfort level of the bike. Seems there are many bikes sold recently with the same problem so they may be a little overwhelmed at customer service. Hopefully, the new UI arriving this week will resolve the problem. I will post when I know.

UPDATE: I got this fixed up -- turned out I needed to replace the display.
How did you find out it was the display and how did you contact Rad to get the new part?

New just assembled today RR 6 Plus When I press the power button on the UI remote (left side) the main display shows 00, the UI remote lights up to display an 8 then shuts off. The lights also come on and stay on along with the 00 on the main display. If I press the power button again nothing happens the lights and display stay on. If I press the light button sometimes the bike shuts off and sometimes stays on. If it stays on the only way to shut the bike down is to remove the battery. Does anyone else have this problem on a new bike or have any idea what may be wrong?
No response from Rad.

Hi - Im new here as well. I just received my RR6 today and just finished the assembly and have exactly the same problem. Very well described by the way! I haven't been able to reach Rad either. Please keep me posted on your progress in resolving this issue as I will you.
