I'm looking to buy a high visibility windbreaker that I can add layers underneath depending on temperature. Live in the PNW. Waterproof would be nice, removable sleeves a bonus but not necessary. REI has some nice but expensive ones. Amazon has some at the other end of the scale but hard to tell about quality. Suggestions?

Also in the PNW, don't ride in rainy or very cold weather.  I'm very happy with this one I ordered this past Spring:  https://amzn.to/3rSnfRl  Don't need to wear it often, but it seems pretty well made for the price and the blue is pretty visible and probably the brightest color available.  Has a thin non-removable lining that's enough to block wind and hold some heat if you have a sweatshirt underneath.  Sleeves do not remove, there is elastic at waist and wrist and drawstring cords at waist and hood.  I think it's a good value for a lightweight jacket.

Don't know if it'll be available to you, but Amazon gave me a try-before-buy arrangement to check it out for size and function before paying.

here ya go. i wear the fluorescent yellow version -

RadRover / Re: Bolton 35amp controller. Any issues?
August 04, 2021, 12:16:24 PM

we had our first issue with a bolton 35a controller last night. a group of us were riding with full lights on a little after 11 p.m. when one of the riders had his rad premium headlight do a slight flicker then went completely dark. we were unable to reset his headlight for the remainder of our ride and assumed the headlight had failed. we swapped headlights with another rad premium headlight but still no joy. we metered the headlight connection on the failed bolton 35a controller and it currently reads 5v when active...not good! any suggestions?

Hi All,                                                                                                          7-30-21

Can anyone explain the advantage of a Bolton controller over the OEM unit?

Thanks.
Be well, stay well.

DGAnthony  (the newest of newbies)

just some advantages of the bolton vs stock controller -

digital display

more torque

highly adjustable performance

ability to slightly exceed 20mph oem speed limit

cruise control

...and etc.

the 35a bolton radpower upgrade is the best mod i've done to my radrunner 1...so far!

i've been using the 35a bolton upgrade since last july with zero issues.

definitely increases the bottom-end performance - would recommend!
I'm considering the Bolton controller upgrade. I know it does wonders to the performance. However, my question to those who have it is, does the upgraded controller increase range or kill it?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

yeah, not really sure about the range question - i replaced my controller shortly after receiving the bike.

i can easily get 28+ miles with the riding i do.

Nice!

I knew mine was expensive. It was an impulse thing where I wanted it now and it was available locally. I really like the one you have too. I may get one of those for my wife's Rover. Thanks!

yeah, my yescom tail / trunk box is similar to size and functionality as yours but not near the quality as the one you're using - has no o-ring seals or padding and etc., but works well for those daily rides.

i had a similar issue when i purchased my radrunner 1 in april of 2020.

i (mostly) resolved mine by doing some fine tuning and lubricating of the chain tensioner.

i use a 30l tail / trunk box that is very similar (but not as high quality) to this on my radrunner 1.

$45 on ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/124511007533

Hello all-

I have a RadWagon 4 on it's way to me. Me being me, and one that cannot leave anything alone, been looking into getting a little more performance out of it has brought me here. Quite the wealth of info here and been reading through alot of the back posts.

I am a pretty serious MTB'er, my own mechanic and have a very good understanding of bike components and drivetrain systems of all levels. I can help troubleshoot and or provide advise for anything related to the mechanical systems of the bikes. Electronics is completely out of my league though.

hi marv!

welcome to the forum!

where do hail from?

i had tried several available mirrors on the radrunner from a custom-modified version of the mirrycle bar-end mirror through 3 iterations of hafney mirrors over the past 14 months...none seemed to be a completely satisfactory option.

...then i ordered the juiced hyperscorpion mirrors.

https://juicedbikes.sjv.io/nLGENM

i love these things - best mirrors for the radrunner yet, in my opinion!

inexpensive - $20 (plus $8 shipping).

secure, direct fit - bolted right up in a couple minutes.

large field of view - right in the sweet spot for me.

...and look cool!

(...and speaking of cool, note the himiway ebike headlight mounted motorcycle-style in the photos. will be reviewing this headlight vs the rad premium headlight in a near-future post).
Sorry but I'm picking up on all your accessories [emoji23] what's with the yellow clock you got there. I been looking around for a while for something like that myself. Can you share the details. Thanks!

Which seat are you using?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

that would be the "Serfas CRS-1 Super Cruiser Bicycle Saddle".

i use this seat on my radrunner and everyone who's ridden the bike loves the seat - a little pricey but big and comfortable!

$84.95 on amazon - https://amzn.to/2RQEajZ
Thanks again, looks like a very comfy seat. Now can you please share the details about the headlight.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

the headlight is the himiway "ebike headlight" available here -

https://himiwaybike.com/products/ebike-headlight

i used $29 in free gear codes himiway has provided to ryan (forum admin) to purchase the headlight -

https://www.radowners.com/index.php?topic=801.msg3990#msg3990

brighter and wider field of view than the rad "premium headlight".

requires a connector swap (opposite) and polarity reversal when wiring to headlight's circuit board.

i'll be doing a comparison review of the 2 headlights in the near future.

Nice.  I like your headlight mounting location.

I suppose my only question would be how many people have tripped over that post (sprinkler?) sticking out of the concrete?

thanks!

that's actually a piece of pvc conduit sticking out of the concrete. getting ready to install a lamp post.    ;)
