Wow, I really like those wheels. Going to have to do some research to see if they will fit the RR1.

Nice upgrade!!!!

After upgrading my runner I decided it wasn't really a RPB any longer so I painted over the down tube logo. I took a little 220 sandpaper to area and quickly got to a little bare metal. Made sure to wipe it clean and taped off the area for over spray. Any hardware store brand will work fine like a krylon and it's better to do a few light coats then one heavy. Did a few frame scratches also so it looks go as new but with out the annoying bright logo.

Not sure a US controller will give you a boost. The EU rad site list the runner with a 250 watt motor. I guess you would have to open the motor up to look.

RadRover / Re: Bolton 35amp controller. Any issues?
July 11, 2021, 10:47:07 AM
I have the Bolton controller and motor upgrade and being a full throttle type rider I do see a big drop in range, maybe 20 miles max. But my wife and I rode the Trail of the CDA for 16 miles round trip and I only used about a bar. She has a no throttle Trek Ebike  so she cruises at about 8 mph, I set the cruise control to 8 and was using 60 watts just cruising along. So it really does make a huge difference on how you ride.

I had also done this same rail to trail ride before I did the upgrade peddling in pas 2  went 20 miles out and unfortunately only 18 miles back before the battery ran out. Runners with single speed are no fun even if it is only 2 miles.

I've attached a couple of photos of the wheel. The story behind it is when I received my Runner March 2020 the motor was making a ticking noise around 15 mph. After making sure the wheel was install correctly, replacing the controller (2 of those for sale if anyone is looking) Rad sent me a new wheel. When I did the Bolton Upgrade in July of last year I put the new motor in the wheel with the bad motor thus giving me a complete rear wheel setup. Probably has 300 miles on it.

Besides the extra controllers I also have a lcd screen I can sell if anyone is interested.

I'll send you a pm with the price.

I have a complete rear wheel I can sell up in WA state. Unsure of pricing and shipping though, would rather sell as a complete set rather then take out the motor.

I have the original skid plate I can sell or I made a custom plate when doing the upgrade. I'll try to get a photo up.

RadRunner / Runner in the Snow
October 28, 2020, 04:00:39 PM
We had 6 inches of snow this past weekend so I couldn't resist taking the Runner out for a ride. Did great on the flats or downhill but just spun trying to go uphill. Maybe a ski attachment in place of the front wheel.

Let's see more winter photos of the Runner

I'd be a little cautious about the seller. Bolton Bikes list the model number as Model:  RMG06 48V750W(6), do a search for that and see what you find.

Now does this motor actually fit the RR1, kind of. The motor is an easy switch out in the casing, just undo the screws and pull out the motor and drop in the new one. But the axle is a bit wider by about 3/8 of an inch so the frame has to be spread apart to get the wheel in, not much but a little. This does allow for an upgrade 5 or7 speed  cassette but you'll still have to buy a derailuer and shifter. And also a new controller is needed.

Anybody know what this means:
7.Cultch is used on drive unit, more safty

Rad Modifications / Re: Rad Runner Mods
October 07, 2020, 05:51:05 PM
I like the custom seat. The front wheel seems a bit farther forward though and the handle bars seem lower. The front wheel looks to be 4 inches out from the frame where the regular fork holds the wheel about an inch away. Does that affect the ride?

I do enjoy being able to sit on the Runner with the wide kickstand making it well balanced. But I seem to bang rocks or even curbs with the kickstand, it is a little lower then the skid plate on the controller. I also have to lay the bike on its side to load into my truck with canopy and the kickstand always gets hung up on something.

I still love the runner and find it somewhat humorous that the skid plate is protect by the kickstand. It is built pretty tough so no real problem. I prefer the the wide stance.

I can't speak for the manufacturer but given it is a none issue for hub motors I would say no.
