Thanks for your time , I did pop the end cap off and it seems I have black plastic shrink wrap around my batteries and not blue, so I may not have the car type fuses. I haven't gone any further with it .
I read on fixit post that black wrapped may have soldered on fuses. Amazing that fuses might blow while sitting in my house not connected to anything at all.

Well. Here's something:
https://support.radpowerbikes.com/Learn_before_you_buy/What's_the_best_ebike_for_me%3F/Motor_class_switching

QuoteSelect Rad Power Bikes models offer motor class switching to allow you to select a motor class for your ebike that best suits your needs. Motor class switching is available on the following models with color displays:

Radster Road
Radster Trail
RadWagon 5
RadExpand 5 Plus

To change the motor class setting while the ebike is stopped, navigate to the Menus screen and select the 'Class' menu, and then use the remote buttons to select the class setting most appropriate for you. Once a new class is selected, it will default when the ebike is powered on.
Followed by a chart of characteristics of the classes, including this:
* Class 3 functionality on U.S. ebikes only. Not available on RadExpand 5 Plus

Does that help?

Maybe it actually is charged up but the output fuse is blown.
I don't know what's in the semi-integrated batteries, and the manual for the RR6+ makes no mention of them. Maybe they're soldered on the PC board, maybe they're more like a circuit breaker that eventually resets itself.
In the non-semi integrated batteries there's one fuse for charging (something like 5 or 10 amps) and another for output/discharging (40 amps?).
Conceivably, if the charging fuse is good, the charger can still charge it, but if the main (output) fuse is gone it looks totally dead according to the on-battery LEDs or the handlebar display. Green LED on the charger would mean that it's finished charging.

Again, this is all sheer speculation on my part,🤷🏼 but it would seem to be consistent with the symptoms you reported.

where was the sticker? On my City5+ there's one on the frame but I never peeled it off to reveal what is underneath. I'm just curious if that's what you meant. I thought maybe there's another one on the motor itself.

For me I am content with the speed but I wouldn't mind unlocking it if it would gain me a bit more climbing power.

I maybe wrong in this assumptions but it seemed the general consensus is that upgrading to a third party controller is the answer.

In regards to unlocking, there used to be a video but it was taken down by the owner of the forum. I found one on YT but never tested it. Use the keyword "How To Increase Top Speed on Rad Power Bikes RadRover 6+Rad, City 5 Plus, and RadRunner 3"

I had my battery inside my house always kept inside with probably 3/4 charge or more . I grabbed it to go for a ride after couple weeks of bad weather outside. I pushed the button on battery ,  no bars no lights at all ! I put in my charger it's green not charging . I confirmed battery is dead by putting on bike . I have only about 250 miles on bike and 2 to 3 years old ?
How could this die inside not being used at all ?

For me. I think spending $49 CDN is a bit much for a single port charger. Also I am limited by the location of the charger whereas a power bank can be mounted anywhere.

Rad Modifications / Even more USB charging port in...
Last post by John Rose - October 18, 2024, 06:34:56 PM
Quote from: John Rose on January 12, 2024, 07:51:11 PMAdditional info ... if you disconnect the USB device and plug it back in, it (the charging port) stops working. You have to power the bike off and on to get the USB charging port to work again.
And yet more info:
  • If you have the device plugged in and charging, then turn the bike off with the MODE button, the power continues to be delivered to the device.
  • If you turn it off with the key, the power to the device goes off too.

I discovered this while trouble-shooting what turned out to be a faulty Lightning cable.

Now I'm all prepared for this coming winter, with its potential power blackouts. I can recharge my phone and Kobo e-reader if it goes off for a long time.

RadRunner / Unlocking the bikes full power
Last post by JBDLWB8 - October 18, 2024, 10:45:56 AM
I bought a rad runner 3 in canada. The sticker which says 500w is covering a sticker that says 750w. How do I unlock the true 750w and get the extra power?
I've heard of eggrider but do they make one for the rad runner 3? any experiences with this?

Thank you for your time

RadWagon / Better conestoga cover?
Last post by dwharrington - October 17, 2024, 07:07:35 AM
I need to replace my 1 year old radwagon conestoga rain cover. Wondering if there is anything out there that is higher quality than the official rad power bikes version?

I found the rad branded cover to be terrible quality especially for the price. The problem is the zippers, which are very thin (thin teeth and thin mechanism). The cover requires a lot of tension, and with poor quality zippers, mine popped and buckled and jammed the first week I had my cover. Within a month, two wouldn't zip anymore, and now I am down to one functioning zipper.

It really needs to be a rain cover that provides a little more slack and/or has thicker zippers, like what you'd find in a German hiking backpack instead of a $10 kids Minecraft backpack.
