tannus armor cutting

in the instructions for the tannus armor what would happen if you dont trim the tannus tire liner?

why do you have to cut it?

I put them I my Rover last year without trimming and I have no issues.

I didn't cut mine in my Rover 5 either.

I didn't cut them for my RadMini either. I assume that excess liner could fold over and bunch up, causing stress points for the tube, but I've had no such problem.
