Star Citizen players hoping to experience the game's long-awaited engineering gameplay in Alpha 4.0 will have to wait a little longer. Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) recently revealed that several features related to engineering, which were previously showcased in early updates, would not be included in the upcoming Alpha 4.0 build. This decision was made following concerns over the stability of the game, particularly with the integration of the server meshing system and the Pyro system.

In a recent post on the Star Citizen roadmap, the studio confirmed that various engineering mechanics would be postponed, including those that allow players to manage power, operate fire extinguishers, control life support systems, and more. The reasoning behind the delay lies in the need to prioritize the stability of the overall game experience before introducing these new systems, which are deemed too complex for the current build.

"We made the choice to temporarily remove several deliverables," the roadmap post explained, referring to the engineering features. These features are still planned for a future patch, but CIG made it clear that they would not be included in Alpha 4.0. The studio assured fans that they would revisit these features when the game's stability is more assured, and the necessary infrastructure is in place to support them.

While this news is disappointing for players eagerly awaiting engineering gameplay, CIG has promised that it is committed to bringing these features back as soon as possible. However, the community's response to the news has largely been one of frustration, with many players expressing skepticism due to repeated delays. One player summed up the sentiment by saying, "It's like expectation limbo," reflecting the ongoing letdown felt by those who have been waiting for Star Citizen's grand promises to materialize.

In terms of positive news, CIG pointed to other developments that would move forward as planned. Features such as updated vehicle MFDs, HUD improvements, and expanded customization for characters will still be included in Alpha 3.24.2. While not as exciting as the engineering gameplay, these additions offer players some new content to look forward to as they continue to wait for the more significant updates.

For now, fans hoping to play the role of engineer aboard a starship in Star Citizen will have to hold on a bit longer. The dream of managing a spaceship's systems will eventually come, but it looks like it will take some time before it becomes a reality in the 'Verse.
