This is what we have been using. Even the smaller one is long enough to lock two bikes if you get them close together. I don't think there is any perfect bike lock, but this is what I decided on a couple of years ago. Note it is somewhat large and heavy and we don't live in a big city where bike theft is prevalent. Welcome Rocket! When choosing security note the crime level in your area. If your in or near a big city then you need heavy duty/best you can get. Me, I'm in a lower crime area and use a Pedego branded Foldy lock. If I ever lug my 'Runner into Richmond or D.C. I'm bringing my Abus U-lock and my Kryptonite noose-chain form my scooter along as well. Bumping around town on the ebike my biggest concern is seat getting stolen while parked. I replaced the quick release clamp with a bmx clamp and use HexLox inserts.

Yes, we went with the smaller one. But as scooter mentioned just be mindful of your area. If bike theft is a problem you'll likely want to get something a little more secure. I do not have a lock on our seat, but again we live in an area where theft is pretty unlikely. I'd be most concerned about the suspension seatpost.

I use a kryptonite lock. Seems big and bulky , but they say they have a 4000 dollar theft reimbursement if there lock lets you down.
Not sure how much work it would be to go thru that hassle. I carry bike insurance during my riding season (im a fair weather rider)

Not sure how much work it would be to go thru that hassle. I carry bike insurance during my riding season (im a fair weather rider)

Heaven forbid you get your bike stolen but if it does Hopefully the thief leaves the lock after they break it. I have read that Kryptonite will not honor the warranty without seeing the lock.

That's interesting - I just looked it up and sure enough! I wonder how many people actually file claims with the locks that have these sorts of guarantees.

I was going to buy a  kryptonite lock but in the reviews on Amazon I read that some have had the lock fail and the key won't turn the lock. Could you imagine being on a long ride and that happens. So far I just don't stop anywhere that I would need to lock my bike.

I live near a big city and leaving it unattended is just not something I would do in the city centre People steal them just for batteries these days.

Two different types of locks and leaving in open over watched \ cctv area for little as possible is best option.

For my RadWagon4 I found this lock in my local bike shop - Texlock Eyelet. It's a mix of textile and cable lock that's supposedly cut resistant due to the mix of materials (as bolt cutters aren't really sharp and angle grinders get tangled up in the textile shell). Due to its ability to loop one end through the other, you get a lot of reach with it to wrap it around stationary items. It wraps nicely around the caboose so I can keep it on the bike at all times without having to take off the loop or having to put it in any bag.

As a bonus, it's also made in the city I live in - Leipzig, Germany. So it's really a local product, but from what I understand they also ship it internationally.

I have the large version with the mini U lock.

Apart from that, I always look the front wheel to the frame with a large Abus U lock with their security grade 15 (maximum) and also have an Abus 110cm folding lock. I don't use as much anymore since I got the Texlock as it's much more difficult with it to reach around stuff, but I always use it at home in our yard to attach the back wheel to my Texlock overnight. Even though we have a large gate, there's already a few bikes that were stolen and they also once took my RW seatpost+saddle, which sat me back 120 EUR or so to get a replacement. Now I secured the seatpost with the Pinheadlocks system.
