Has anyone changed out thumb shifter
for an under the bar gear shifter?

I tried, it just didn't fit with everything else on there.

Any mid 90's Shimano rapid fire 7spd shifter will work. 7sp Grip shift will also. I plan on using an 7sd Shimano XT thumb shifter as soon as I find one.

What ever you choose, make sure it is Shimano or "Shimano compatible" so the indexing matches the spacing on the rear cogs.
