Hi Rad owners,

I'm looking for a travel case for the battery pack and charger to fit into. The one radpower sells is over sized for the batter. Do any of you guys have an alternative you use?

Cheers,

Radio Runner

I just ordered the Rad battery case. Up till now I was just putting it in a yellow padded shipping envelope. Worked pretty good but wanted something better.

These won't fit the charger as well, but fit the previous-gen Rad batteries absolutely perfectly, as if they were made for them, were cheaper than Rad's bag and are good quality:

Last June, I got one Used-Like-New for only $15 sealed in the original bag; the ones listed as New were about $22 at the time but are considerably more expensive at the moment.  If you're not in a hurry, set up a price watch at camelcamelcamel.com to be notified when they hit a price you're willing to pay.

I read once of someone using a curling iron travel case for batteries. I know they found one that was an exact fit. Here's an example one, no idea if it fits. But it gives you an idea, you could search Amazon until you found one that works I'm sure.

That's a very good idea!  I just rough-measured my battery and charger and the 2-layer version of that bag just might fit very well.
(by the way, you can trim Amazon links to the product ID just past the "dp" in the URL, as above, and it'll work fine - the rest is just your search information)

I just ordered this one. Based on the dimensions, it looks like it should fit. Won't know for sure until tomorrow when it arrives.

Corris, let us know how it fits. I looked at the bag you just ordered and then measured my RW4 battery. It's definitely going to fit perfectly on the length and the height. It's going to be almost 2 inches wider than the battery but it will give you room to carry other stuff along with the battery. Maybe the charger? I haven't measured it though.

I use this bag.  It fits well, it's a sturdy bag, wish it had a shoulder strap... but it doesn't!

I received the case that I posted the link for above. It does fit the standard RAD battery pretty much exactly. You do need to put in in upside down and there isn't really room for anything else in the case. See attached photo.

Thank you Corris. I thought the measurements for the case were for the inside and not the outside of the case. That looks like a tight fit. Maybe too tight?

I wouldn't say it's too tight, more like an exact fit. The case tapers down a little at the bottom on the ends. So, you just need to put the battery in upside down since the battery tapers at the top as well. End to end it fits just right. Side to side there is about 1/4 inch of space on each side of the battery.

Ah perfect. I have the rad battery bag and it's too big to pack the battery around while shopping etc so I'm going to have to look at alternatives. The two suggestions on this thread would be excellent.
