Radwagon 5 questions

I'm interested in the new Radwagon 5 with torque sensor. I'd like to know if it'd be worth it to sell my Aventon Abound and buy a RW5. I really like my Abound's Torque Sensor bottom bracket and it's nice to see RAD followed suit.

Does the battery wire to the controller via two conductors or is there some sort of handshake process going on between the batt and controller with more than two conductors? I'm asking this because I'd be interested in adding a second battery through a DatX2 combiner for better range.

Can you derestrict the Canadian speed limit of 32 km max like the previous RW4 could be? My partner's RW4 can now top out at 40 km/hr on flat ground and hers IS a Canadian market bike., no wind. I see in video reviews they mention the class 2 top speed on throttle or peddling being 20 km/hr, but class three being 32 km/hr - I'd like to have 40 km/hr on throttle as well.

To get the best performance, upgrade the controller....if you can find one for that model.  It will add speed and torque.  It will give both speed and torque.  You won't be disappointed.

Try area13 or electro bike world for a controller upgrade for that model.  Area13 is great with communication.

BUT why would you want the wagon?  Are you going camping?  Lots of kids?  I originally thought that is what I wanted and so glad I didn't go that route.  There are other ways to add cargo and have more flexibility than having the wagon.

The RW5 has a torque sensing bottom bracket, the Area13 controllers don't support a torque sensor.

Regardless, Are you saying the RW5 can't be set for a 40 km/hr top speed?

I don't know about your model controller.  But I don't know why you shouldn't be able to.  With my Rover 5 I was able to once received it.  But again a different controller.

So I thought I'd follow up since the RW5 has been available for a bit now.
Can the speed restriction be increased to 40 km/hr like the RW4 could?

Also, I thought I'd ask if the battery is hard-wired to the controller or is there a connector between the two?

There will be a connector between the controller and the battery cradle.

Benjamin J

Are you able to confirm that?
My Abound's battery connection block is hard wired to its little controller. The fact that there are 5 wires from the block makes it impossible to add and parallel a second battery

I'd like to know if there's a possibility of adding/paralleling a second battery

I doesn't make sense that it would be one piece because it has to go inside the frame.  I don't see how it would be possible.  It has to disconnect some where.  For mass market you won't have someone soldiering it.

Aftermarket controllers are plug in.  Where it plugs in on your model I don't know.  It will be somewhere on or near the battery cradle.

My Rover 5 is under the bike near the pedals.
